Beyond planmaker?
Beyond planmaker?
What products, if you can comment, do you think softmaker may do after Planmaker has been done?
Some ideas
* Mail application.
* Desktop publishing (or enhance textmaker with more DTP functions)
* Image editing

We haven't decided yet whether to publish PlanMaker for Zaurus. The decision depends on the success of TextMaker for Zaurus in the marketplace.PF_J wrote:I just posted this question at another thread, but maybe here it is more

What about PlanMaker for Zaurus?
At the moment there is no good working sheet software for the Sharp Zaurus on the market.

Currently, we are targeting DataMaker as an end user-oriented database. If DataMaker turns into a full-fledged development system over time, I think it makes only sense to offer redistributable runtimes. But we are not there yet.erika wrote:Will we be able to redistribute forms and applications to others if we develop forms and applications with DataMaker (2004)? I mean as a runtime engine as in the case of Access and Paradox. Or do we have to pay royalty for each launcher.
Will DataMaker (2004) support Linux and PostGreSQL?
The first release of DataMaker is for Windows, then we port to other platforms. If you have ODBC drivers for your database, you can use the database with DataMaker.

So we better start promoting TextMaker for Zaurus in the Zaurus community thenmartin-k wrote:We haven't decided yet whether to publish PlanMaker for Zaurus. Corel Draw substitute
I know this is extremely challenging.
But there is no real / good SVG editor for Linux.
And Corel Draw keeps coming with more unstable versions supporting less and less platforms (they pulled out of Windows 98 / ME / NT and Mac OS)
Because softmaker's application are all pretty cute shiny lightweight and minimal
a svg editor woud look dashing.
even if it aims to be like corel draw 8/9 - that would still be fantastic.
sparking a lot of genuine interest.
of course i cant fathom how unbelievable difficult it might be the programming
but you all have some experience as the object drawings functionality
present in Planmaker are very SVG-editor like
An model-diagram only application (like Visio) or a presentation like Powerpoint
will be met with a lot of competing products at least on the Linux platform.
But again - there is nothing remotelly as good as Corel Draw for Linux.

Re: Corel Draw substitute
A full-fledged illustration program, while certainly an attractive addition to our product palette, is far beyond what we have the manpower for to develop at the moment. Your best bet is that we will extend presentation graphics over time to reach into that area.hgilbert wrote:I know this is extremely challenging.
