Page numbering issues

Post by Woody44 »

Using TextMaker 2024 to format a book for print. In the United States, the customery format for books is to NOT put any header on the first page of each chapter, to put the author's name as the header on the top of even-numbered (left-hand) pages, and the book title as the header on the odd-numbered (right-hand) pages -- except the first page of each chapter.

So I have the document set up for mirrored margins, different left and right pages, and different first page. I want a page number at the bottom center of ALL pages, in the footer.

The problem I have is that when I enter a chapter break to start a new chapter, the page numbering doesn't continue automatically. Some new pages get a number, some don't. And some are in 10-point, while others are in 12-point. I tried editing the style for "Footer" but that didn't seem to have any effect.

What am I doing wrong?
