pictures in document greyed out when printing

I am trying to print a couple of pages of photos and captions. I have saved the document in .docx format. All the photos are displayed fine when the document is loaded, but they are all completely greyed out in print preview and when actually printing. I have previously printed out similar documents with photos with the same software and hardware successfully, but now can't understand what has changed. I am using windows 10.
