I just installed SoftMaker TextMaker2021, and I really like the look and
feel of this software.
I have two questions about setting defaults:
1 - after opening up TextMaker (MS Word equivalent) to make a new document,
how to I set the opening default to remember and always open with my selected default text FONT and text SIZE?
2- after the install, TextMaker created a new folder 'SoftMaker' in MY
DOCUMENTS folder ... I would prefer to NOT have the 'SoftMaker' folder in
MY DOCUMENTS, but in a folder of my choosing. I tried moving the
'SoftMaker' folder to a folder of my choosing, but when I re-opened TextMaker,
it again re-created that same folder in MY DOCUMENTS.
thanks,

Re: setting default folder and default text font and size
Thanks for your post and for your feedback.
1. To change default fonts and other character settings for default template, please click on ribbon command Home | Character group | to open the character dialog box, click on the arrow on it's right bottom corner.
Then make your desired changes in the character dialog box and click on button "Set as default..." > "Change for all new documents based on the default template." > OK > OK
2. Yes, this is important folder which is required to run the software as it contains important information including settings etc. Please don't move or delete this folder.
But you can relocate your default template and backup folder by clicking on ribbon command File | Options | Files, Backup tabs.
For further and complete information on our software, please check our advanced and easy to read User manuals here.

Re: setting default folder and default text font and size
I have followed the instructions for character changes and 'set as default' for all new documents. When I close TextMaker and reopen it, I get Times New Roman 10 again, rather than the Calibri 12 which I have set.
Can you advise me what I may be doing wrong, please?

Did you change font to Calibri 12 first before clicking on "Change for all new documents based on the default template"?

Please remember that you are providing technical support to a software suite that offers two menu systems. rmfort did NOT stipulate that he uses the [awful] ribbon menu. Even if he does ... other users who may have the same question may use the Classic menu.
I know it will take more time to provide answers addressing both menu systems, but doing so will help avoid having other users follow up with "So how do I do that using the Classic menu?"

No. Sorry, but no.
85% of our users use ribbons. Answering every question in two different ways is an extra burden for which we don't have time.
If a user mentions he or she uses menus, we will accommodate, but if the user does not mention anything, we will assume they belong to the 85% who use ribbons.

Where do you take this value from?
What makes you sure, that it is at least 85% of the users, that use ribbons.
To me ribbons are as neccessary as a crop, and the are really CRAP to me. CRAP.
And I know I'm not alone. Ribbons are USELESS!

The update checker transfers this statistic (anonymously).

Re: setting default folder and default text font and size
I don't trust automatic statistics ... really.
And sorry, my last post was not really a good one.
But I nearly allways become angry when I only hear "ribbons" as I not only don't like them but hate them - to me they are not really userfriendly or intuitive.
In addition with your statement to ribbons - that sounded to me like "if you're one of the 15% woh use classic menues you have to help yourself" it it was the last straw.
Sorry again.

Re: setting default folder and default text font and size
This doesn't make sense. If there is one thing that computers can do it is counting.
This was my answer to a request that we should "simply" answer all forum posts in two different ways, one with ribbons, one with menus. And we will not do that. If you use menus, then say so in your post, and we will answer in the menu way.
