Bug or unexpected behavior: TextMaker 2021 strange Figure auto numbering order

When placing multiple pictures in the same page and then clicking on References -> Update fields the numbering does not have the expected normal number sequence from top to bottom, left to right.

Sample text that references a Figure 1 and then next picture in sequence is unexpectedly the bottom right image Figure 2, instead of the Figure 3 (bottom left image). The user has little control over how the images are numbered.
