Help purchasing the Right Ver of SoftMaker Office
Hi,
A while ago I posted to this forum that I was researching MS Office Clones to use with a laptop I was going to buy.
I downloaded a SoftMaker 2018 ver that included Thunderbird as an Email client. I like that as I've been a TB user for many years. Now, the web offerings have changed a lot, for instance:
1] Seems to be an older version offered: tm2016manual_en with a DB.
2] Different ver: NX Home, NX universal, Std 2018 Professional 2018.
3] Do you know what current version compares to the ver I downloaded a while ago. It consisted of a SS, Word Processing, Presentation & Thunderbird. I'm sorry I know that may not be much to go on, but take your best shot.
Now I have a new laptop & need Office software. I could really get by with a Word Processer & Spreadsheet that's compatible with MS Office 2003 IF it handles my docs with BOOKMARKS and allows me to "avoid a CTRL + click to follow a hyperlink" as I prefer the faster way with the Left Mouse Button as I'm not a typist.
Please give me your thoughts, suggestions. Your help in this matter is very Important to me is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
klxdrt

Re: Help purchasing the Right Ver of SoftMaker Office
In 2019-04-10 (SoftMaker Office 2018 rev960) we implemented the ctrl+click instead of just a click to follow hyperlinks.
If you buy SoftMaker Office 2018 today, you'll get rev 976. However, I may exceptionally provide you afterward with an older revision and you disable the updates.
Regarding our versions:
- NX is a subscription.
- Pro and Std are one-time purchases.
Same software...just a different way of paying for it. In your case, it makes more sense the one-time purchase.

I'm impressed with your quick on point reply. I remember you helping me before with good service.
Do you know what/why happened to Thunderbird from the previous ver? SoftMaker Office ver of Thunderbird was much better presented hence more usable.
I don't know if you're old enough to know who this image represents? This pix was meant to be satiric.
If not, I'll be back to give you a hint.

Mozilla changed the way extensions work and now most of them no longer work and will require quite an amount of programming.
We included version 5x with our software and you may download them here:
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
However, you should also disable the automatic updates. I think it's somewhere around here:
"On the top menu, click on Tools->Options to enter the Options window, then click on Advanced and select the General tab. Click on the Config Editor… button and the scary window saying “This might void you warranty !” should appear again. Just click on “I’ll be careful I promise!” to carry on.
Then in the Filter filed type app.update.enabled. It should be set to true, double-click on the line to set it to false."

miguel-c ,
Your information is very useful as I had a very specific reason beyond good presentation.
Is this the ver number 5.0b1 of what was SoftMaker Office that I was talking about?
Attached is a pix as a clue who the gray haired lady is. If this hint doesn't strike a bell I'll send you another one.

Is the BELOW IMAGE the ver# of Thunderbird you mentioned in an earlier post as the version used in the earlier SoftOffice we were discussing? Please advise.

When I said John Wayne I was kidding I knew all along it was Clint Eastwood
Regarding Thunderbird, I meant versions 50, 51, 52, etc.
