Footnotes settings

Hi,

Is it possible to change the footnote characters to say *1 rather than just a single number. Basically somebody commented on the fact that they had not seen the numbers and the one (1) looked more like and exclamation (!) mark to them.
I was also thinking that if no extra characters could be added, then perhaps a colour alocation, in my case I'd use blue.
This would apply to both text footnote number and to the footnote itself.

Just a thought if it can be done
