When I click on a .doc or other associated file to open it in FreeOffice I get a dialogue box popup saying that "....the file is in use, do I want to open a copy"
The file is not in use so why does FreeOffice say that it is and how do I avoid the annoying popup
open .doc file or associated file
Re: open .doc file or associated file
Hi,
1. are you opening the files from Windows Explorer or from an e-mail program? E-mail programs place attachments in the temp folder and make them read-only, for whatever reason.
2. Are you using the windows explorer Preview Pane? If so, please disable it.
3. Could you try to temporarily disable your anti-virus to see if it's causing the issue?
4. Please right click the file, then click on Properties and then see if they are Read-Only.
5. Are you trying to open Textmaker files? If so, please go to windows task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and kill all Textmaker, Winword or Libreoffice (writer) processes. Then try to open the file again.
