Latest version of Textmaker will not open some large files

Post by JLDP »

I have generated some large (~300k) files, with multi-page tables, in Textmaker 2024 on Linux, in .docx format. Unfortunately my computer has now installed the latest update of Textmaker (S1226.0817), which will not open these files, and hangs when attempting to do so - requiring a reboot of the computer.

This only seems to happen with these particular files - whilst I haven't done a thorough check, other large files (with text and images) open OK, as do smaller (<50k) files. The files will open correctly in previous versions of Textmaker 2024 and in the current version of LibreOffice.

I encountered the same problem with these files in the latest version of Textmaker for Android - and posted a topic on the appropriate section of this board. It also seems to happen with the latest version of Textmaker 2024 for Windows.

The release notes for S1226 mention "changes for better compatibility with the latest version of MS Word files" - which may well be what is causing this problem.

Is it possible to download the previous version of Textmaker (.deb file for Ubuntu) so I can reinstall this and continue working on these important files?

Thank you for reporting this issue. As a first step, please update your SoftMaker Office to the latest revision (S1228) and attempt to open the files again.

If the problem persists, please send us the affected file so we can investigate further. If the file contains sensitive information, you can send it directly to forum[at]softmaker.com and include a link to this forum thread for reference.

I have now installed the latest version (SoftMaker Office Professional 2024 (rev S1228.0906) ), which will open these files correctly - it would appear that the bug in S1226 has been fixed in S1228.
