"Cut" changes default font

Post by Speedviktm »

New to using PlanMaker.

I searched and saw how to change the default font in the Normal.pmvx file, and have done that. My default font is Calibri 12, but if I CUT a cell, it changes to Arial 10. Delete doesn't change the font, only cut.

Thank you for posting your issue. This is a known, subtle behavior in PlanMaker that can be confusing.

The issue you're describing is not related to your Normal.pmvx template file. The difference between Cut and Delete is by design and is related to how data interacts with the clipboard.

Explanation of the Behavior:
1. Delete: The Delete key only clears the contents of a cell within your spreadsheet. It does not interact with the system clipboard and therefore leaves the cell's formatting (like your Calibri 12 font) completely unchanged.

2. Cut: The Cut command (Ctrl+X) does two things:
  • It moves the cell's contents to the system clipboard to be pasted elsewhere.
  • It clears the original cell.
Here is the key part: When you Cut a cell, PlanMaker clears that cell and immediately applies the default, blank-cell formatting to it. It appears this default blank-cell format in your environment is set to Arial 10, which is different from your Normal.pmvx default.

Please follow these steps to change the default font of the Normal cell style of your default template file:

1. Open your default template file.

2. Click on ribbon command Home | group Format | Cell style dropdown | Manage cell style...

3. Select Normal > Character > Change the character settings here > OK > Apply > Save the template file.

This will redefine the “Normal” cell style for this specific document. Any new cell or a cell that has been cut and cleared will now use this formatting (Calibri 12) instead of Arial 10.

Please try this solution and let us know if it resolves the issue for you. If it does not, the behavior may be related to a specific document, and we would recommend sharing the file with us at forum[at]softmaker[dot]com for further diagnosis.
