RTL Arabic text not displaying correctly when pasted — ignores RLM/Unicode direction

Post by cas8398 »

Hello,

When pasting Arabic text into FreeOffice TextMaker, the right-to-left (RTL) direction is not respected, even when the copied text includes the Unicode Right-To-Left Mark (U+200F) or is wrapped in Right-to-Left Embedding (U+202B ... U+202C).

🔍 Example:
Copied text (includes RTL marker):

Code: Select all

\u200Fبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (١) الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ...
When pasted into:
✅ Google Docs: correct RTL
✅ LibreOffice Writer: correct RTL
❌ FreeOffice TextMaker: incorrect (LTR rendering)

📌 Notes:
TextMaker does not seem to honor standard BiDi Unicode markers.
This breaks correct Arabic and Quranic text layout (especially when numbers and parentheses are involved).
There's no apparent way to force paragraph direction to RTL manually.

📄 Request:
- Please improve RTL and Arabic script support by:
- Respecting Unicode BiDi markers like U+200F, U+202B, and U+202C.
- Adding a clear manual toggle for paragraph direction (LTR/RTL).
- Supporting Arabic text rendering with correct ligatures and font fallback.
- This feature is crucial for Arabic, Hebrew, and Persian writers.

Thank you!
