Translation of help in French

Post by Dominique NOEL »

This message is for those who speak French and the developers of this software. Often, developers overlook translating the software's help into French. I sent an email to support about the work I've undertaken to address this ongoing issue, but I haven't received a response yet. As someone experienced in this type of translation, I use the online help in English to utilize the HelpNDoc software for translating the help content into English, meticulously respecting the semantics used in the French translation of the software. In the end, I can export the completed translation into various formats (Doc, PDF, Epub, HTML, HLP...). Currently, I am at section 166/260. All hyperlinks are created, and during the final check, I will adjust the size of images and tables that exceed the screen width. In return, I would like to receive two lifetime licenses for the software, ensuring access to future updates.

Admin: To maintain consistency across our English-language forum, we've removed non-English translations from this thread.

I have just completed this documentation, which is a 194-page PDF. I translated the entire online help into English, creating a document that fully respects the semantics used in the software's French translation. This work took me 50 hours to complete. I sent this document with a watermark to the SoftMaker team. Since I hadn't received a response to my previous email, I went ahead and purchased the FlexiPDF 2025 version for Windows. I offered SoftMaker the source content, knowing that I can export it in various formats (PDF, HTML, Epub, Doc, etc.). I just asked for a commercial gesture in return.

If I don't receive a response, I will consider sending the PDF file by email or via a link from my cloud, asking for a contribution from the requester.

For those interested, I am making the first twenty pages of this document available on the page https://urlr.me/RTZABU.

I am in the U.S. and I speak English, so I have no need for a translation of the help files or user manual into French, but this will be a tremendous asset for users in France, and in Quebec Province in Canada. This must have been a tremendous undertaking for you. I hope SoftMaker will respond appropriately.
