Greetings,
When TM2024 Pro got advanced auto-correction abilities, I was thrilled. Heaven knows my writing can use all the correcting it can get. When I discovered that TM’s enhanced auto-corrector tended to introduce more errors than it corrected and was then obstinate about keeping its failed “corrections” after I corrected them (unless I took special precautions*), I disabled most of them. I then discovered that one of its most useful auto-corrections, I.e. [sic] auto-formatting URLs, stopped working. I then decided to investigate further.
* Plot Spoiler: Dealing with wrong auto-corrections
If one just retypes a failed auto-corrections (i.e., an auto-correction that introduces an error instead of correcting one) TM will just auto-[in]correct it again. The trick is to hit Ctrl + Z immediately after the auto-correction. This will remove the “correction,” but leave the original text.
Auto-Correction Options Problems:
a. The replace --/--- with an EN/EM dash option and the replace -->/ ---> with arrows options are mutually exclusive. If you leave both enabled, two/three dashes followed by a greater-than sign results in –>/—>, respectively, and not arrows.
b. The “Format URLs as hyperlinks” option does not work unless at least one of the four auto-correction options are enabled (checked) in the “auto-correction” section of the “option” tab of Tool → Auto Correction.
Kind regards,
Richard Kanarek

Re: Auto Correction Problems
Thank you for reporting these problems, I am able to reproduce and forwarded the details further.RKanarek wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 2:47 am Auto-Correction Options Problems:

But please share more complete details for other issues like what are failed corrections? How to reproduce, sample document etc. so that we can do further investigation on it.
Re: Auto Correction Problems
Both of these issues have been resolved in the upcoming service pack.RKanarek wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 2:47 am Auto-Correction Options Problems:
