Stuck in a loop

Post by Helga »

Hello,

My Freeoffice 2018 is not working, nothing happens when I start any of the programms. So I thought I'd uninstall the package and reinstall it but now I get an error stating that a drive cannot be found. I have a nas where my documents are located and this location the programm is looking for is an old ip-address of my documents, my NAS did assign new ones which are now all fixed addresses.

But now I cannot do anything anymore with my Freeoffice, not working, not opening the programms, not uninstall, nothing. I have tried with the Windows uninstaller, apps remove option, PC Tools, not one programm can do it.
And when I cannot open the programms, I cannot change the standard file location station neither, so I'm in a loop.

So I asked Softmaker but they only told me to install Freeoffice 2024 because 2018 is outdated. But also when I would install 2024 I would still have to uninstall 2018 to avoid two versions on an already overloaded SSD drive.

I thought about changing some registerkey to give a new address for standard file location and I don't mind doing that at all but I don't know where I can find this value in the register.

Can somebody help me please?

Sorry I post it here, but there's no subforum for Freeoffice 2018.

You can download the FreeOffice 2018 setup file, install it, and then uninstall it. Alternatively, you can use a software removal tool like Revo Uninstaller (please use third-party tools at your own risk).

Keep in mind that FreeOffice requires a fixed “My Documents” folder location; if this changes again, you may encounter the same issue.

Hello,

Thank you for your advice. But neither one worked, nor did it work to change the IP-adres of the server on which the documents are stored. So I just deleted the directory.

I must say that I think that the intention of this programm is good, but seeing how agressive it is when you want to uninstall and remove it from the system I won't reinstall it anymore.

Where can we download the FreeOffice 2018 files?

As he has already tried it, it's no more required.
