Basic Sans and Basic Roman

Post by sergiuvolda »

I would like some clarification regarding the Basic Sans and Basic Roman fonts included in the SoftMaker Office installation:

1. Is Basic Roman metrically compatible with Times New Roman?
2. Is Basic Sans metrically compatible with Arial?

Yes. Both Basic Roman and Basic sans are meant to be metrically compatible with TNR and Arial. At least to a degree good enough for most people not to notice the small differences.

As an alternative you could also take a look at the Liberation font family that also is intended to be metrically compatible to TNR and Arial.
