Opening fixed width files

Hi

When opening text files, you can specify the field format as either "Separator between fields" or "Fixed field widths".

But how do you specify the width of each field?
I would expect to be able to say character 1 to 20 would go to Column 1, character 22 to 50 to Column 2 etc. All you can work with is still field separators - which in my world does not make sense. If I have a date and time (containing a space) specified that I want to import to Column 1, and spaces in sentences for other fields disqualifies space as separator.
In fact, the file may not even contain a qualifying field separator - the logic could simply be line positioning.
