Hourglass as I type

Hello,

While I type the cursor flickers from pointer to hourglass with each key I press. If I move the mouse away from the document window this annoying behavior stops. My OS is Fedora 40 with Gnome running in a VM. BTW, I switched to KDE/Plasma and got the same behavior.

Thank you posting your problem, but for better understanding we want to know some additional information:

1. Is this happening with TextMaker only, or with other applications also?
2. Is this happening to one specific document only, or with all documents?
3. Did you check this with the host operating system, or this problem is with this VM only?
4. Does your VM have sufficient memory and CPU time allocated?
5. Please check your graphics card and driver also.

2. I was surprised to discover this is happening with this document specifically. I tried a blank document and the problem isn't there. The document was generated by Adobe Acrobat Online (https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/online.html) from a PDF source file, two years ago--I've been working on it ever since.

3. It happens on both MacOS (the host) and the Linux VM.

4. The VM has 2 CPUs and 22 gig RAM. The host has 96 gig RAM.

I took a closer look at this issue. It's very specific, it only reproduces with some portions of the document. When I extract them into a new document, the problem doesn't reproduce. I also have issues trying to extract an example into a clean file. Here's a video of how it looks:
