I'm pretty used to have the file anchor free band space usable as a mean to simply double click for a new file (Notepad++/NotepadQQ etc).
I'd find it neat if you guys could integrate such a feature.
An example from "Presentation" although that would be applied to the applications suite:

Great way to very quickly start a new file.
However double clicking opens a new file using the default template. If you need a new file based on your own template/s, you will still have to use File...New option.
