Can FreeOffice and SoftMaker Office co-exist?

Post by Woody44 »

I'm writing a book about setting up a home office on a restricted budget, and a major issue for a new, small office can be software acquisition. Naturally, I am going to discuss both FreeOffice and the full SoftMaker Office paid version.

At the moment, the only way I have to do features comparisons is to run SoftMaker Office (the paid version) on this computer, and FreeOffice on my old desktop computer, which I have set up on a portable card table in the living room. Can FreeOffice be installed on the same computer as SoftMaker Office? If they can both be installed on the same machine ... can they be run simultaneously, in order to assess features side-by-side?

Thank you.

You would have to proceed as follows.

1. Uninstall SoftMaker Office.
2. Install FreeOffice.
3. Make a copy of c:\Program Files (x86)\SoftMaker FreeOffice 2021.
4. Install SoftMaker Office. This will uninstall FreeOffice, but only in its original location - you still have the copy.

You can check the feature comparison here.
