Linking data from Spreadsheets

Post by MrHarleyQuin »

Hi, I'm new to Softmaker so please forgive my lack of knowledge of how the software works.
I am using Planmaker and wish to copy over data from one spreadsheet to another. This data may change with time so I don't want to keep going back and using the copy and paste function. In other spreadsheet software I have been able to do that by selecting the cell in spreadsheet 2 and using the function =cell from spreadsheet 1. However when I try this I am unable to select any cell from spreadsheet 1.
Very grateful for any help on this.

Have you checked the user manual?

In PlanMaker, it should work the way you want it to.
See the screen recording below.

Furthermore, you can find information also in the web help quickly:
For entering cell references, take a look here.

Hello, I have a similar issue trying to link two spreadsheets contained in two different files (tes1.xlsw and test2.xlsw), using Planmaker running in win11.

If the two sheets are within the same file I can link cells from one to the other (say in a formula). However, if the two sheets are in two separate files, I'm not able to link cells from one in the other.

Just wondering if I need to toggle on/off certain features in the options ?

Regards,

No, there is no option to enable/disable, just read and follow the user manual page as mentioned above and here.

Thank you for your answer and providing a solution.

Are there any intentions in enabling linking two cells from sheets in different files using the equal sign as can be done linking two cells from two sheets of a given file ?

As described in the top of user manual also, you can link two cells from two different files also using equal sign and manually entering the reference.

What I meant is that one cannot press = then use the mouse and point/clic directly to a cell in a sheet from another file (to link both cells in a formula) as can be done in Exel and LibreOffice for instance. I couldn't get it to work.

But as you indicate, PlanMaker does allow you to link in its own ways (manually or via cut and paste/special)

Many thanks for your answers.

PS As a new user, I must say that it's a real joy to use your software...

Yes, this feature is currently not available, but I have forwarded it as an improvement suggestion.
