Section breaks problem

I have to work on a document that was created in Microsoft Word 2019. It's a book manuscript that is broken into chapters, and multiple subsections within each chapter. The manuscript needs to be converted from .docx into an .epub file.

The manuscript was created in Word using a "next page" section break not only to separate chapters, but also to separate subsections within chapters. This was done because when the subsections weren't split up with section breaks, when the file was converted to .epub some of the subhead headings appeared as orphans at the bottom of a page, with the text for that subsection beginning on the next page.

When I open the .docx file in Textmaker, all the "Next Page" section breaks appear as Chapter breaks -- even though TextMaker offers an option for Section Break. Why is TextMaker converting Section breaks into Chapter breaks?
