English grammar checker
English grammar checker
Any plan for a built-in English grammar checker like Microsoft Word?
Maybe you can even consider porting or integrating some basic open source grammar checkers if developing or licensing one is out-of-the-question because of the cost or expertise involved.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have forwarded this feature request to our developers team.
Re: English grammar checker
I agree with defnow. I think that for SoftMaker Office to be competitive against Microsoft Office the Textmaker module really needs to include a robust grammar checker.
That said, in Word I have to keep the grammar checker turned off because it's so totally brain dead. I'm a professional writer and editor. I very rarely need help with grammar and, when I do, I have two editions of The Chicago Manual of Style and two editions of Elements of Style to refer to. Most Americans, however, can't write a grammatically correct paragraph to save their lives, so a robust grammar checker is absolutely necessary.

This looks interesting. I have sent them a request to clarify how many computers can be included under a single-user license.merinos wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 3:58 pm @ SuperTech

I read a review of Antidote 10 that says when it is installed it adds a tab to the ribbon menu in Word. Does it recognize TextMaker in the same way, or does it have to be run external to TextMaker?
Re: English grammar checker
To integrate the software, a specific development is required: https://www.antidote.info/en/antidote-1 ... oper-tools

Thanks for sharing. I have forwarded the details to our developer team.
Re: English grammar checker
On LibreOffice I use the grammar checker plugin of LanguageTool, it is quite good (at least, it helps me a lot with French verbs) and supports several languages (en, fr, de, sp, pt). Also, it is developed by a German company. Having a similar plugin for textmaker would be a great improvement.

@ pltz
After having done an online test yesterday (concerning the French language), I must say that the free version of LanguageTool has evolved well.
To download the offline version (in Java) of the software: https://languagetool.org/download/
With: https://languagetool.org/download/ngram-data/ And: https://languagetool.org/download/word2vec/

Re: English grammar checker
The third party programs are interesting, but we are straying from the purpose of this forum and this post. SoftMaker TextMaker needs a good, built-in grammar checker.

An English grammar checker would serve English-speaking customers around the World. Is there any plan to provide this valuable feature?
