This is an issue because right now, there is a vulnerability where if your printer spooler service exposes your computer to attacks. (one of the vulnerabilities has been fixed at this time, but others exist).
This bug only happens if you have multiple tabs open and are in standard view, so it should, in theory, be fixable. Otherwise, I guess there are other options.
Anyway to fix the text scrambled/corrupted bug?

Where anyone mentioned vulnerability or attack ? Please share more details and source of your information?

That is why I asked if there was a way to fix it since the bug only happens if you have multiple tabs open.
And where? Microsoft. It is a vulnerability in Windows, which is why people might want to not have their printer spooler running. Microsoft patched some of the vulnerability. https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide ... 2021-34481 https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide ... -2021-1675 https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide ... 2021-34527

Between risking letting someone have unintended access to my computer and buying a different word software that works without the spooler, I think I'd take the later.Executive Summary
A remote code execution vulnerability exists when the Windows Print Spooler service improperly performs privileged file operations. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.
The workaround for this vulnerability is stopping and disabling the Print Spooler service.

Re: Anyway to fix the text scrambled/corrupted bug?
This bug in Windows has been discovered one month ago and Microsoft has made it public 9 days ago.
Microsoft doesn't seem to be assign a high priority to it. It had one month to provide a bug fix and did nothing. Instead, you want to disable printing on your computer?
This doesn't make sense. You are not talking about a simple text editor, but a word processor which needs information from the printer driver to format documents and sooner or later actually print the document. This won't work without the printer component of Windows.

And why exactly do I need to print anything? There is an epub and pdf export option that both work fine without a printer, so why do I need a printer to format the documents? Why can't the tabs work properly without a printer when not having tabs works fine? Again the bug only happens when multiple tabs are open.martin-k wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:42 pm This bug in Windows has been discovered one month ago and Microsoft has made it public 9 days ago.

But I understand that you don't want to fix this, so I won't be upgrading and will use a different word processor that works fine without the print spooler.
