Single quote in sheet name / formula

Post by spira_post »

When a sheet has a single quote in it's name and a formula in an other sheet refers to it and the file is saved as .xlsx it can't be opened in Excel or LibreOffice. It seems that saving a file in .xls format does not cause a problem.

We are from a french speaking part of Canada and apostrophes are used quite a lot. This could be a major annoyance for us, considering we are sharing documents with people who use MsOffice. It also causes errors in LibreOffice. We can't take the risk of corrupting a shared file.

I made some sample files that show the problem.

The link I included in the above post is for OneDrive. If you would prefer I send these files an other way, please let me know.

I opened both the file saved in Excel and the one made in Planmaker and here are differences I noticed:

In _rels/xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml

Cell B2 is defined as such

In Excel:

Code: Select all

<c r="B1"><f>Hier!B1+'Aujourd''hui'!B1+Demain!B1</f><v>60</v></c>
In Planmaker:

Code: Select all

<c r="B1"><f>Hier!B1+"Aujourd'hui"!B1+Demain!B1</f><v>60</v></c>
And in _rels/xl/workbook.xml

The sheet named Aujourd'hui is defined as such

In Excel:

Code: Select all

<sheet name="Aujourd'hui" sheetId="3" r:id="rId3"/>
In Planmaker:

Code: Select all

<sheet name="Aujourd'hui" sheetId="3" r:id="rId6"/>
The apostrophes and quotes are not represented the same way in both software.

Thanks for sharing the files. I have checked the Excel file in PlanMaker 2021, PlanMaker file in Excel, and found both are working fine as shown in the attached screenshots. Please check.

From your screenshot, I see that you opened the .xls file in Excel. As I said, .xls files don't cause this problem. Could you try opening the file named "Single_Quote_In_Sheet_Name_Created_in_Planmaker.xlsx" and see if you get the same result?

Thank you for taking the time to look into and fixing this problem!

This will have a major influence on our decision to ditch the Ms Suite and move to yours.
