This might be a stupid question, but will it hurt anything if i keep my templates, including norm, in a different folder?

No, that will not create any problem but please don't delete/rename the SoftMaker folder which is in Documents folder because it contains settings, etc which are required to run SoftMaker Office.

I guess you are aware already that, after moving your template folder, you have to change the folder path in Tools > Options, tab "Files", to make it work properly.
