Resetting of mime-types and file handlers during update

Using SoftMaker Office 2021 on Ubuntu (PopOS!) 20.04.

During updates from the apt repository, the mime-type and file handling registration of which file types can be opened using Softmaker are being reconfigured. This means that after each upgrade I lose my Default Program to open Office files with. It will have reset to another program that can be used to open the files. I have to go into the file properties dialog and reselect the relevant Softmaker program.

Anyone else suffering from the same? Any workarounds? Any chance of a solution from Softmaker?
