Cant get my docs to print in color

Post by patrick_here »

Hello,
I recently tried TextMaker and am very favorably impressed with it but the one big problem I have is that can't get my docs to print in color.

The steps to reproduce this problem are:
  • Create a new document with ">File>New>"
  • Type-in some text and highlight the text with two different colors
  • Print using ">File>Print>" but leaving "Print in Black and White" unchecked.
  • Click OK
  • Observe that the printed document is printed in grayscale (without the color highlighting).
I'm sure color printing must be working for everyone else (I don't see anyone complaining about it). Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Color printing has always worked for me in all other applications with no problem. Thanks

Please share your sminfo file which you can generate by clicking on '?' > About > Write system information.

Also, please share output of the following command which you can run in your terminal :

lpoptions -l

Thanks

By diagnosis of command results, we found that your color printer is set to print mono by default in your Linux.

Please run the following commands to update it :

lpoptions -o BRMonoColor=Color

lpoptions -l

Please check your issue resolved or not after this and share the results of this command with us.

Apologies for the delayed response. Somehow I missed your email three weeks ago.

Result for TextMaker 2018:
Yes, using the "lpoptions" tool to change the linux default does give me a way to print in color (though it's not the solution I would have wanted because I really would prefer to leave "Mono" as the default) ...However:

I have confirmed that in TextMaker 2021 (Beta) I am able to print in color even when the Linux system default is not set to "Color".

Thank you - that is my preferred fix!
