Read-only docx files

Hi,
I'm new to SoftMaker Office and am trying it out before purchasing. I'm keen to stop using Microsoft Office but my clients do use Word. I've noticed that if I save a file as docx and then open it in Word, it opens as a read-only file.
How can I prevent this happening?

(I'm using a MacBook Pro (Mojave), the latest SM Office download (Trial 2018) and Word for Mac v16.32.)

Make sure you close the file in TextMaker before trying to open it in Word
