Should one use the native SoftMaker file formats, or use Microsoft file formats?
Criterion for using either set of formats? (For collaboration purposes, I'm well aware that Microsoft is the best choice in the US. Is it so in other countries?) But, when would one choose the native SoftMaker formats? I'm curious.
Background: Rebuilt my late 2013 13" MacBook Pro to High Sierra (everything I need in an OS, and less security restrictions/handholding than newer OS's from Apple) and have reinstalled SoftMaker Office 2018. Nisus Writer thinks RTF files are Glossary files, so I'm trying something new. Have to keep Numbers from Apple for QuickBooks report export, but that's it.

Re: basic file format choice
Hi, in theory SoftMaker's formats support more features than Mircrosoft's.
However those are rare cases, so it's up to you do decide. You'll be fine either way.

Thanks, Miguel.
I've decided to go to Microsoft's formats, simply because I may need them somewhere else in my life. Softmaker's been around long enough, they're not going to disappear, thankfully.
