Hi all,
I've created a spreadsheet from scratch in PM2018 and saved it as PMDX, and also XLS and XLSX to share with colleagues.
If I load the XLSX into Excel 2003 (with 2007 compatability pack) then the appearance changes drastically, the scaling of the chart changes and the vertical axis label is rotated to a very strange angle!
Also, if I load the XLS file into Excel 2003, the font size on the chart goes to 1 point!
Sadly I only discover this after I've sent files to my colleagues sometimes and I can't rely on PM2018 even if I load those same files into that.
Is this a bug?
Your help is appreciated.
Regards,
Jez
Corrupt formatting when saving as XLS and XLSX
Re: Corrupt formatting when saving as XLS and XLSX
Hi, in fact, the XLS and XLSX files you attached are displayed on my Excel 2003 like in your screenshots.
However, if I open the PMDX file on my PlanMaker and then save them as XLS and XLSX, the generated files open correctly in Excel 2003.
See attached the files I generated.
My PlanMaker is from SoftMaker Office 2018 (rev 972) (not FreeOffice) and my Excel is version is 2003 (11.5612.5606)

Re: Corrupt formatting when saving as XLS and XLSX
Hi Miguel,
Thank you for your reply.
My PlanMaker is the full version (in fact I have purchased it for my work and also for home with separate licences). The version is 972.1023 (64 bit).
My MS Office 2003 is version 11.8169.8172 (SP3) with the 2007 compatability pack.
I've loaded your saved files into Excel 2003 and the XLSX file still shows an angled label on the chart's vertical axis.
It looks like the XLS file now loads correctly into Excel 2003, but what has changed? Very odd.
I have this problem frequently (not just with the files I submitted here). This happens with files that I create in PM2018 and not necessarily files that were from other sources.
I appreciate you looking into this.

Re: Corrupt formatting when saving as XLS and XLSX
In fact, I was able to reproduce the issue of the angled label on the chart's vertical axis when opening test.xlsx on Excel 2003 with the compatibility pack.
However, I opened test.xlsx on Excel 2007 and 2019 and all was fine.
Unfortunately, opening xlsx files in 2003 is a Microsoft hack that has some unpredictable issues that even Microsoft wasn't able to fix after 3 service packs for the compatibility pack.
