How to convert a number to a text format, by analogy with SUMTEX in openoffice?

I have only found some Russian documentation on SUMTEX. It seems this is not a built-in OpenOffice function, but an add-on that converts a number to a string (145 -> "one hundred forty-five"). We do not have such a function yet.
