Suggestion for inserting documents

Today I needed to insert 24 documents into a blank document and had to do it one by one!

My suggestion: allow users to select multiple documents from the dialog box, using the Ctrl and Shift keys, so we can select/deselect to pick all at once or only some in a list.

I don't think it helps you much because this wouldn't let you define the order in which they are inserted.

It would be just great to select and insert multiple documents at once. But your answer suggests a step beyond that would be even greater!
