Hi,
For last ten days whenever I go to open a file it always gives me a box as below...
(?) The document C:xxxxx.pmdx is in use or write protected. Do you want to open it read-only?
Yes or No
The file xxxxx.pmdx is a page where I have a list of all my common documents for record keeping.
Using filenames with hyperlinks. I have found this to be very efficient for me to use.
However I do sometimes wish to add a new hyperlink. But page is protected
If I had to save this it would have to be under another new name. Not what I want. As I have the xxxxx.pmdx set up to run directly from the root to use the xxxxx.pmdx filename.
What have I done to cause this to start. It only seems to have started doing this in the last ten days or so.
Help or hints Please.

Re: read-only or write protected
so it happens only with this specific file or with all files you open from that network share? What kind of network share is it?

Re: read-only or write protected
Hi Sven,
Thanks for the reply.
OK a bit more explanation:
I have a file called MyLibrary.pmdx on the C: drive of the laptop, this has a series of hyperlinks to the actual files.
Its one of these files which has the problem this subject started with.
On the main PC is another file called KevinFiles.pmdx on the C: drive. this also contains hyperlinks to the required files, not all files crossover.
Neither MyLibrary nor KeviFiles are copied to the NAS or the other drive.
It's the KevinFiles.pmdx which wants or says it's read only. Now this file I use to add and delete active files I'm using.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: read-only or write protected
HI Sven,
Iv'e sorted it....
Went into the initialising file where I have set the file to open using the
Properties|shortcut... Target = "C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftMaker Office 2018\" "C:\KevinFiles .pmdx"
Changed the
Properties|Compatibility
Change settings for all users.
Priviledge level ticked. Apply
It now opens without telling me its read only or write protected.
Thanks for looking hope the explanation is OK.
