The majority of the default settings for most of the things in a PlanMaker or TextMaker document are set by the template used when the new document is created. Unless otherwise specified, the default template is Normal.PMVX for PlanMaker and Normal.TMVX for Textmaker. If you format a workbook as you wish (e.g., set the Format → Cell Style (not Character Style) → Character… settings as you like them), then save the otherwise blank document to/as a template, then configure that template to be the default, all future new worksheets will be formatted per the template by default.
Note that Normal.PMVX is the default “default template.” You may or may not want to continue to use it as the default template by saving your changes to it, perhaps after making a backup copy first. You can, of course, also create other templates for special purposes and then manually select them via the dialog presented by the File → New… menu.
