Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
Hello, it seems there's a problem with input encoding.
I'm not able to insert characters like these: á, â, ã
They appear, instead: 'a, ~a, ^a
How to fix it?

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
We could not reproduce the problem here with TextMaker 2018 on Linux Mint 18.3 and openSuse. Could you please send us your logfile (Help=>About)? This could help us to find out what's the problem on your machine.

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
When you write "after the last update", did you mean that revision 928 of SoftMaker Office 2018 or the last revision of SoftMaker Office 2016 worked with Czech?

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
Not to pile on, but after the last update I also lost the ability to use the combo (caplocks) key; and can no longer access French or German accented characters.
Mentioned here too: viewtopic.php?f=305&t=17748
Am going to revert to the earlier version and [str]disable PPA[/str] lock the version using Synaptic.
Follow up: For what it's worth, downgrading to Version 2786 restored Compose Key functionality. Since the new update didn't actually fix the segfault with COPY/PASTE bug, will probably stick with the downgraded version.

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
Update: The compose key still works with the latest softmaker update in Linux Mint.
System: Host: vtpoet-Lenovo-Yoga-2-11 Kernel: 4.16.0-041600-generic x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.7
Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia
Installed: 2795
Candidate: 2795
Version table:
*** 2795 500
500 http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy/non-free amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
So... Composite Key doesn't work with Kubuntu 18.04 but does with Linux Mint (16.04). Probably unhelpful information but there you have it.

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
Martin-k: I meant upgrade to latest service pack of Office 2018 (I have paid version).
Vtpoet: Well, to make it even more messy, I use Ubuntu 16.04 with KDE NEON and the bug exists there. All other GTK and KDE apps are OK.
May I ask someone for older Softmaker 64bit .deb to make downgrade? Thanks.

If Softmaker doesn't provide a link, then I could set up a shared dropbox account. You would need dropbox unless you know of a better way to get the file to you.
Edit: Scratch that. Might only need your email address. Send me a private message and we'll try to set this up.

I will report this to the developers.

I did week ago, no response. The customer support for paid customers is terrible.
Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
I don't know about that. The forums strike me as more responsive lately. Don't forget that the same moderators are handling two forums --- German and English. They seem like a small(ish) crew and are doing what they can...
Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
What exactly have you done? Have you written an e-Mail to us and received no answer? I found no mail with your e-mail address you use here in the forum. The problem with accents has already been reported to the developers.

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
We cannot reproduce the problem here, not even with the Kubuntu 18.04 that vtpoet mentioned.
Please post your sminfo.txt of affected systems. Post screenshots of your keyboard settings in the KDE settings. Which exact keyboard layout and language are you using? Do you have any non-standard settings for the keyboard in the KDE settings?

Re: Problem with Brazilian Portuguese characters
Hi Martin,
I downgraded SO to the version before the current one—in which the compose key still works, so sminfo won't enlighten you.
softmaker-office-2018:
Installed: 2795
Candidate: 2795
Version table:
*** 2795 500
500 http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy/non-free amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Attached are all my keyboard layouts. My version of Plasma:
KDE Plasma 5.12.5 | Distro: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Not sure if you're using the same version of Plasma (from Kubuntu Backports).
If you want me to upgrade to the latest version in order to stress test it, let me know. I only ask that you be online and present so that I can downgrade once we're done (if the problem isn't solved). I use the compose key all the time.
