Hello All
I'm very new to Softmaker - I'm just setting it up today.
I've created a default template and also set the default format to .docx
If I am in Textmaker and I hit "New Document", I get exactly what I expect.
If I am in Windows Explorer which is very common, and I R-click > New > Textmaker Document, I get something completely different ...
I get a .tmdx format and a template from I-don't-know-where.
Can someone tell me how to set the default from Windows Explorer please ?

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
Does it work better when you save your template as Normal.tmvx (overwrite the existing Normal.tmvx) in C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\SoftMaker\Templates 2018\English?

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
In this case a new file "New TextMaker document.tmdx" is created in Windows Explorer. This file was created based on the Normal.tmvx standard template.

Hello Sven
I guess you are thinking about the font, but really that's less important initially. The important point is that the format must be correct.
I've looked around, including in the registry, but couldn't see anything obvious. Can you tell me how Textmaker decides what format to use when I am creating a document in Windows Explorer ? (This issue also applies to Plan and Presentations)

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
Hi Sven
See the default format in Textmaker below
It's completely ignored when I create a doc from Windows Explorer. So the question is ... how does Textmaker decide what to use ? (Or which "Normal" template to use when I have told it which is my default template ?
Actually, I did try removing the the other templates from the Softmaker folder to see if that would help ... but it didn't. So what is Textmaker basing its decision on ?

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
I just tried removed the 2016 and the 2018 template folders completely from the Softmaker folder, so there were no templates at all ... and in Windows Explorer it still created a .tmdx document ! It must be finding the format to use somewhere. Hopefully it is maintainable ...

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
TextMaker always creates a .tmdx file on the desktop, based on the Normal.tmvx template.

Re: Format & template from Windows Explorer
Hello Martin
My question is why ? Why does it create a .tmdx file when I have told it the default it to be .docx ?
Why does it create a .tmdx file when there is NOT a even a .tmtx template (or any other template) in the Softmaker folder ?
Is it in the Registry perhaps ? Or is it hardcoded ... ?
