free SoftMaker for Windows 2006 but not Linux version

Post by erika »

Hi,

I have noticed that you have made SoftMaker for Windows 2006 for free. This is a bold excellent move.

I wish you also make SoftMaker for Linux 2006 for free as well!!!

Thanks.

This should be rational by all means. If people likes SoftMaker 2006, they will be happily buying and moving to SoftMaker 2009 sooner or later on all platforms.

Currently we all work to finish the SoftMaker Office 2010 and have no time to build another free version now. After the release we will discuss this again.

It is a shame you are giving away the SoftMaker 2008 Windows version for free, but not the Linux version. I think your marketing department's decisions need a lot of improvement, IMHO. :)

Considering that they don't even have to give the 2008 Windows version away for free, they're under no obligation to give away the Linux version or anything else. Sure, a free version for Linux would indeed be nice, but they don't OWE us a free version at all.

I for one am glad they at least offer the Windows version. Because of that, I noticed them in the first place and subsequently bought a license for the 2010 version. That, to me, says that their marketing department is doing its job just fine.

I think you can make the preovious older versions for free when you release a new version. So you will make thousands of fans, and future prospects. When they like it, they will buy the newest version. Buying is a matter of trust. When you use it and like it, you will %99 percent buy the new one if it is affordable. Your software rocks and it is very cheap, let the prospects experience it for some time. :) My 3 cents (adjusted for inflation) :)
