Market Share of Mac OSX is growing. reaching to %7 almost

Post by erika »

I think you should not neglect this market. Mac OSX is getting more momentum than Linux on the desktop market. There is a definite gap in this market. If you can develop a MacOSX version of your SoftMaker office suite, you can make an alliance with Apple and this will increase your sales a lot. Also it will help them to sell their laptops with preloaded office suite. My 2 cents. :)

The MSFT version of Office is 499$ for professional edition, standard is 399$, student edition is 199$.

We know about the large demand, but porting to Mac OS X is not that easy, see here:

That's understood. But it is good that at least you see this as a wise investment. :) Taking sponsorships from Apple in this regard may help you financially to employ more developers.

Beware again. Apple is coming back. And their Mac customers also need a cheap decent office software. :) I know one candidate (softmak..). ;)

Apple sold 1.76 million Macintosh computers during the quarter, a record for Mac sales in one quarter and up 33% from the year-earlier period. Mac sales included 1.13 million MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook PCs and 634,000 desktop Macs.

One more news from Harvard students. Harvard Students Dumping Windows. Mac is up 30% per year, Windows is flatlining. "Levine said that
before, consumers shied away from Macs because of a fear that they
would not be compatible with many common applications, but now that
perception has faded. "The move Apple made to the Intel architecture, which allowed people to run Windows and Mac OS side by side, [allowed Macs] to effectively emulate Windows applications," Moriarty said. Both CIOs also mentioned that since Mac OS is based on the Unix operating system, having that functionality is also appealing to people who have a more scientific or technical bent. "
