i was thinking of something more interactive anyway i will do it as an exercise for learning python or lua. tcl/tk should be easy too. but with all those you need the libraries installed not all linuxes have python or lua or tcl/tk as standard. so best is leave it up to you where you can make a slic...

Visual Script for Linux?

maybe there should be a visual script for linux i know that installing all 10000 or so is not a very clever thing to do even in Linux. while in Windows it would slow the operating system to its knew - with possible dire consequences Linux is not free from trouble either. Performace is the same (ther...

everything its an over-hyped offshoot of Mozilla Composer. But hardly any difference. Well .. apart from being much slower under Windows. Firefox which is also another offshoot of Mozilla evolved very fast and rapidly. NVU is being sponsored by Linspire but for months on end you see hardly any real ...

There is one software I really think should be made open-source That is Revolution . It is educational and teaches the principle of object oriented programming. But by being closed source (and somewhat expensive for the curious person to buy more for playing than serious programming .. millions of p...

Netfusion Objects shamefully removed support for Mac and Linux. The number 1 software request for Linux is a WYSIWYG Web Editor. Competition is zero (I wouldn't call the bad Moz-Composer clone NVU or the pitiful OO web writer serious competition). Next time people shout "We want a Macromedia Dr...

Softmaker entire portofolio for 2005

Sorry but I don't think its fair me keeping the secret from the public. But SoftMaker has been secretely writing a lot of competing products all to be launched at once around Spring 2005. It will run on most platform and the widgets will still look pretty and shiny. Now you've heard about the develo...

Why not create a WYSIWYG Web Editor

Now that is something badly missing in Linux.
And I guess not as hard to code as a SVG Graphics program.

You could call it WebMaker :)

I want your toolkit to play with :( But yeah I know what you mean, reading programming X from scratch most pages had code like: static unsigned char arrow_bits[] = { 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x04, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x...

I guess I am a masochist when it comes to programming I've tried reading J.Robert Brown's X Window Programming from Scratch but because I've been busy with other things never got round trying the concepts out. I'll try today. Also today I was playing with QNX Momentics Development Suite For a second...

what do you use to code your applications?

Is it just pure XLib? or do you use some third-party widgets? I've been wanting to learn to program for Linux for quite some time. But its such a hard area to penetrate into. Of course coming from the Window world I've been spoiled with easy IDE and drag-and-drop activeX controls. before i plunge in...

Corel Draw substitute

I know this is extremely challenging. But there is no real / good SVG editor for Linux. And Corel Draw keeps coming with more unstable versions supporting less and less platforms (they pulled out of Windows 98 / ME / NT and Mac OS) Because softmaker's application are all pretty cute shiny lightweigh...

this is a strange way of thinking: but i believe that if we have a reasonable number of closed-source proprietory businesses and application - that could send the positivie message at least for Linux that open-source is not an absolute must. Definitely a lot of software-houses coming to Linux are me...
