Re: Device Compatability
Softmaker Office 2021 for Android was working fine on my Acer Chromebook (with an Intel processor). I even gave it a 5 star review on Google Play back in June. Now, when I try to run it (same Chromebook), It says it was designed for devices with Arm processors, and mine doesn't have one - then it sh...

SoftMaker Office on a Chromebook!
After some experimentation and general messing about, I've got SoftMaker Office 2021 working perfectly on a Chromebook, and saving and loading files to and from Google Docs. It works great, it's remarkably easy, and requires no knowledge of Linux at all! Note that this requires a recent Chromebook t...

SMO in Linux on Chromebook
Bit of a techy question here, so I won't be surprised if no-one can answer it! I'm currently giving SMO2021 a test drive in the inbuilt Linux on my Chromebook. So far it's working perfectly, which is a relief, because there really isn't a decent word processor for Chrome OS, not matter what they tel...

Re: Android software while waiting?
Good-o! I can see I shall have to encourage this by buying the current version when the beta ends.

Re: Android software while waiting?
Well, when I posted this the beta was crashing every time I tried to save. But the next release cured that. :-) It still feels a bit sluggish, and I find it really frustrating that I can't use text styles, which means if I create or edit a document on my tablet, I have to go through it again on my P...

Android software while waiting?
I wondered if anyone can recommend an office package for Android tablets that's compatible with SoftMaker Office 2012, while we wait for a stable Android version of SMO to be ready? I bought QuickOffice Pro on the basis of some good reviews, only to find that .doc and .docx files saved with it relia...

Our software should work with every distribution. That's why we only provide a tarball. Maybe we can find a better solution in future, which also work on all distributions. I'm not really grumbling :-) I was just thinking it would make it easier for beginners to Linux if the software set itself up ...

Softmaker .deb?
Is there presently any repository of Softmaker program .deb files for Linux? I'm using Ubuntu (Feisty), and it would be nice to be able to install and upgrade automatically, rather than having to personally juggle icons and commands in order to get it working without the command line. It would make ...
