Track changes settings

I much preferred the defaults of 2021 for track changes. Although I can make changes to the 2024 defaults, they revert to what I don't want for the next document. There needs to be a way to make the changes permanent.
This was annoying enough that I reverted to 2021.

Does NX update to 2024?

I have 2021NX. Does it automatically update to 2024 or does that require another purchase? If it does, how does the update work?

Re: Spellchecking

If the spell checker is being updated, why aren't there continuous updates along with the updates to the software?

Purchase or subscription only?

Will there still be a version of 2024 that is for purchase and not on a subscription basis? I don't care for the subscription model and would keep 2021 if subscription is the only alternative.

Re: Spellchecking

The spell check dictionary is still inadequate. It is no better than the dictionary that come with the free LibreOffice and not as good as the one in a 20 year old version of MS Word. This is a complaint I've had with TextMaker for years. Please give some examples of words that are missing. You ask...

Default font size

The "normal" style in TextMaker has always defaulted to Times 10, but the standard for manuscripts is Times 12. I know it can be changed, but why not correct it with this new edition.

Track changes now comments deletions

In previous versions, when Track Changes was on, deleted text was set to strikeout. Now the text is moved into a comment bubble which makes it harder to track what's been changed and you can no longer separate edits from comments. I much prefer the old method.

Re: still no scaled printing

If you add comments to a document, they only print on the same page as the document if you scale it down. In Word, you can specify that you want the document scaled so the entire document will print on 8.5x11 paper. You can't do this (at least easlily) in textmaker.

Re: still no scaled printing

Okay, I found the hidden button to print changes, but TextMaker still needs print scaling. My 20 year old version of MS Word has it.

Re: still no scaled printing

That button (which is fairly well hidden) only shows comments, not tracked changes, and the comments don't print on the same page since its won't scale.

still no scaled printing

I do a lot of document editing including track changes and adding comments on the sides. MS Word lets me print both the tracked changes and scale the files for printing the text and comments on letter paper. I'd hoped the new TextMaker would add one or both of those but neither is in the Beta.

Spell check correction changes formatting

If I have a word that is formatted (say italics) that is misspelled and use the suggested correction, it removes the formatting. Small but annoying.

Suggestion: upgrade the dictionary

The English language dictionary is lame. I just had it flag dietician, a not uncommon word and I've had that experience often. By comparison, MS Office has a much more robust dictionary.
