I already had to rebuild the PC after Python messed up, I'm in no hurry to start over.
No reply yet from tech support, I asked on Aug 2nd. Fingers crossed to can come up with something so I can use the software I purchased.

Also, I see in /usr/share/hunspell that dictionaries like es_MX.dic or fr_CH.dic all link to the same dic file (respectively es_ES.dic and fr.dic) while the en_*.dic and pt_*.dic files each have their own dictionary.

I had to use Tools > Options > Language > Manage dictionaries in TextMaker
but I'm now using the seemingly much better Hunspell dictionary. ¡Muchas gracias!

Some words are marked in red. Yet they are in file /usr/share/hunspell/fr_FR.dic. Maybe TextMaker retrieves its validation list from another location? In any case it's wrong. How can the words be recognised correctly and not marked? Are there different locations for the hunspell dictionaries and is ...
