Date Changes between Formula Line and Cell

I enter the date May 9, 2024 as "9/5/2024" in the Cell F2, but it puts the month first in the cell. It shows correctly in the formula. I've made sure the cell format is DD/MM/YYYY, but it still changes the M and D in the cell. How do I change this? I need to import this spreadsheet into a ...
