Checked Documents/Softmaker folder attributes. Was set to read only and hidden. Cleared these attributes for all files in folder. ...

Turned off both defender real-time & malwarebytes AVs
Opened Textmaker. Deleted some items fom recent doc list, added new item and 'pinned' it.
Closed and reopened TM. Changes not saved.
Same issues as described n first post.
