FreeOffice got the basic stuff you need without all the licensing drama from MS Office, and it works with AWS EC2. SoftMaker Office is another option with licensing that might work on AWS too, so look into that.

It could be a repo issue. Try running sudo apt update to refresh the package lists, or download the .deb file directly from the FreeOffice site and install it with sudo dpkg -i <filename>.
