Incomplete document properties
About a year ago, I formatted the interior of a book for a friend for publication (in print) through Amazon KDP. Today I happened to be looking at books by another author and Amazon popped up a notice about the book I had worked on. Out of curiosity I clicked on the link and then opened the previews...

Page numbering issues
Using TextMaker 2024 to format a book for print. In the United States, the customery format for books is to NOT put any header on the first page of each chapter, to put the author's name as the header on the top of even-numbered (left-hand) pages, and the book title as the header on the odd-numbered...

Small caps too small
When using the program to generate small caps (rather than using a proper small caps font), I know we have to accept a slight difference in stroke width. I'm currently working on a document that need small caps at the start of each chapter, and the small caps are TOO small. To make them look right w...

Re: Importing dats from free office to paid version
What do you mean by "import"? The FreeOffice version of PlanMaker and the SoftMaker Office version of PlanMaker both read and write the same file formats (just as the two versions of TextMaker read and write the same file formats). When I upgraded from FreeOffice to SoftMaker Office a litt...

Digital Signatures
Neither FreePDF 2022 nor FlexiPDF 2022 handles digital signatures as neatly and easily as other PDF editors and readers. I'm attaching a screen shot of a PDF that was created as a text file and converted to PDF. I then opened it in Adobe Reader XI and with a couple of keystrokes and mouse clicks I w...

Re: Greetings and a few suggestions
please make the scrollbar be at the very right edge of the window, so that you don't have to be very careful when trying to click on it with the mouse. Take example from chrome browser: you just move the cursor to the very right and start dragging, it works even if you get a bit past the actual scr...

Re: PDF file size after OCR
When you performed the OCR operation, did you set the output to Editable Text, or did you set it for Searchable Image? It sounds very much like you scanned an image to another image. I just tried a sample 1-page typed letter. The PDF of the scanned image is 131KB. The file after OCR to Editable Text...

Document protection
I am working on a project that will result in a book of prints of computer (CADD) drawings. The original drawings are on several different size sheets (pages); the book will be formatted for pages in the U.S. ledger size (11" x 17", or 279mm x 432mm). The print-on-demand publishing service...

Can you post the original .doc or .docx file so we can see what it's supposed to look like?

Re: Megafont NOW equivalent?
Yes, I am aware that "equivalent" fonts are typically look-alikes, not direct replacements with identical font metrics. In this case, I did a book cover for a fledgling author using Felix Titling. I did it as a freebie, to help her self-publish her first novel. Then she revealed that this ...

Re: Inserting emoji into a document/presentation
One can never predict when one may want or need to enter an emoji. The key point is that Piscador installed a TruetYpe font that works in other applications but doesn't work in SoftMaker Office. TrueType is supposed to be a universal font format. For an application to not recognize a TrueType font i...

Re: Font equivalents
Is there a tabulation of the fonts available in the Megafont collection showing what "big name" commercial fonts each most closely corresponds with? Do you mean a font that is metric-compatible, or just a font that looks similar? Preferably look-alikes that are metrics-compatible but, con...

Re: Features questions
As a follow-up, here's what the PDF/A notification looks like in Adobe Reader 11: PDF-A_Screen_Shot.jpg I consider this to be better than in Bluebeam and Foxit, in both of which you have to click through some menu choices to see whether or not the file has PDF/A (or digital signature) status. This i...
