Hello.
We have a new work PC which is running Windows 10.
We'd like to use the database module, but the PC has two users.
If we put the database in a folder which is shared by both users, can we both work on the database? Obviously, we wouldn't be logged in at the same time.

Database issue
Hi I have installed TextMaker 2021. The document editing works well, but the database module is completely unreliable. It is constantly crashing, to the point where for two days of solid work we have only been able to open three records. Now, whenever we try and open Textmaker, we are invited to sen...

LONG TEXT fields in Sqlite database maximum size
Hello
I am evaluating whether or not to upgrade from Textmaker 2018.
I appreciate the new database module.
The manual refers to LONGTEXT fields as being several lines. Could you expand on this? What is the longest field I can get in there?
I'd appreciate your input.
Many thanks.

Re: Conditional text fields
Hi!
Revisiting this question - is it possible to do something similar with textboxes in forms? What I want to do is display some text in a box if a textbox somewhere else in my form is checked.

Exporting smarttext entries
Hello I use Textmaker for work. I use it to draft legal documents. I depend on books of precedents which are extremely time consuming to copy in without SmartText. But Textmaker makes it easy! I set up an entry, type the name and paragraph of the book, and the text jumps in. Is there a way to export...

Feature request - add the ability to search inside .tmdx files to the file manager
Hi We are leaving Windows 7 completely at work when it reaches its end of life next year. Our plan is to use Debian, which we've been using alongside MS for several years now. If we want to search for text inside Textmaker files, we have to use zgrep which I worked out in this post . This is OK, but...

Re: Searching for text inside TMDX files
I put a little typo into my example above. Please find it corrected below:
Code: Select all
zgrep 'search term' -r /path/to/documents

Re: Thinking about the future
I understand your interest to be able to reliably access your documents in the future. But I don't understand why that would be a problem. If you keep using TextMaker or Word, either in the version that you bought or in any future version, you will always be able to open all documents created by pr...

Re: Searching for text inside TMDX files
Good luck. I am sarcastic, if that escaped you. And not that knowledgeable about Linux, it would appear. Fortunately, miguel-c gave me a good starting point. The answer is to use zgrep from zutils . It is not the same zgrep that comes by default in Debian, which is just a shell script and can't do ...

Re: Thinking about the future
Thanks, Martin. Nice response. I don't know what problems you are experiencing with DOCX format. Of course, this format keeps evolving, but all file formats do that. There are tons of variations with DOC format. It's only that people no longer use Word 6.0 whereas there are still Word 2007 users. I ...

Thinking about the future
Hello One of the reasons I switched to Softmaker Office was the shocking experience I had with MS Office 2000. I spent months writing a database that doesn't open in any version of Access after 2003. It was a major headache with our old firm. We used more and more archaic computers, and now have use...

Searching for text inside TMDX files
Hello
Is there a way to search for specific strings of text inside Textmaker files in my home directory?
I can save them as .rtf files, and do a search with grep, but it can't "see" into .tmdx files.
