Re: Mail Merge always selects first record!
After a bunch of testing I've decided that the followin approach is the most straightforward way to print a form letter: 1) Make sure the letter template (a docx file in my case) is connected to the appropriate database (an xlsx spreadsheet in my case). 2) Use TextMaker to open the letter template f...

Re: Mail Merge always selects first record!
I'm confused! I can scroll through my mailing list this way to preview the merged result. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to view the merged result showing just the record that I selected from the Select recipients ribbon option... It really seems there should be a straightforward way to select a...

Re: Mail Merge always selects first record!
Problem solved (more or less). It seems that a Print merge , rather than just a Print or Print Preview , must be done for the actually selected record to be used. Unfortunately, there is no preview of the merged document to make sure everything looks OK. Perhaps someone can suggest a way around this...

Mail Merge always selects first record!
I have an XLSX spreadsheet containing about 150 names and addresses that I'm using as a mailing list. There is no trouble connecting a DOCX form letter to this spreadsheet database, and it seems easy to select a name & address record to use. HOWEVER, no matter what record I select, the Print or ...

Has problem with printing images been fixed in 2024?
Folks, I'm having a problem with printing DOCX files that contain images. The attached file has an image at the bottom of the page that shows up fine in TextMaker 2021 but the images does not print. (The location of the image is replaced with a blank spot.) I'm wondered if this problem has been fixe...

Re: Under Windows 11, typed text all blank
That was the problem! After setting font color to Auto and leaving the Background color as Transparent, the typed text appears in black by default.
Many thanks for providing a simple solution!

Under Windows 11, typed text all blank
I've recently installed FreeOffice TextMaker 2021 on two different Windows 11 systems used by neighbors. In both cases, all typed characters show up as blanks! (Interestingly, I see the red "squiggle" under what would show as incorrectly spelled words if everything wasn't blank.) I've trie...

Re: Strange font substitution
Thanks very much for the clue about different Styles! I use a "template" for the table that is employed when generating the name/address list under Python. Even though the cell for the email address had a Normal Style, it seems that the associated font was 10pt Times-New-Roman. When I chan...

Strange font substitution
Folks, I've attached a 'snippet' from the output of a Python program that generates a docx file. When viewed with Microsoft Word, the email address adamsappleinc@bellsouth.net appears fine in Calibri 12 font. HOWEVER, when viewed with TextMaker 2021, this address (but NOT the rest of this 'snippet')...

Re: How to uninstall BETA Office 2024?
Many thanks - the dpkg command removed just about all of softmaker-office-nx. Only the file /usr/share/officenx/mime/remove_icons.sh seems to have been left, but I assume it is safe to delete /usr/share/officenx to completely finish the removal...

How to uninstall BETA Office 2024?
Folks, Instead of updating my SoftMaker 2021 programs I accidentally installed the BETA SoftMaker Office package on my MX Linux system. I've now updated the 2021 programs properly, but I would like to uninstall the BETA versions. Is there a procedure for doing such an uninstallation, or should I jus...

Can "phantom" printers be eliminated?
When selecting a printer in TextMaker I see a half-dozen printers listed, but only two of these are actually installed via CUPS. I've looked at the Softmaker/offo21config.ini file and only the "real" printers are listed there. Having "phantom" printers listed is confusing, so I h...
